FAMILY 6 DAY ALASKA VACATION PACKAGE: Explore two national parks, and ride the Alaska Railroad. Enjoy incredible scenery, wildlife, a working sled dog kennel tour and ride, and much more. Travel from Anchorage south to Kenai Fjords National Park and north to Denali National Park.

These private tour groups are designed for 8 travelers or more, with a maximum 13 passengers per 1 Alaska resident guide traveling mainly by small coach. Tour rate is per person, based on number of travelers in each room. Maximum occupancy per room is four guests. Rate includes taxes and fees.

This tour date is available only for family groups that require a maximum of 7 hotel rooms. If your group needs 8 or more rooms, it is likely we will not be able to help you. Please contact us to see what is possible.

Arrival day into Anchorage is not guided. All meals, activities, and lodging for this day are at your own expense. Alaskan Tour Guides can assist with Anchorage lodging if needed.

HIGHLIGHTS: National Scenic Byway; Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center; Seward, Alaska

9:00 am meet and greet your Alaskan Tour guide in the hotel lobby, ready to begin your exciting adventure. Travel in a comfortable executive shuttle, and with an Alaska resident as your driver-guide. Benefit from local resident knowledge and first hand experiences. Your ATG guide provides genuine Alaskan hospitality, and concierge-level service so you have the best vacation possible.

Depart Anchorage to travel south along the Seward Highway. This National Scenic Byway passes through some of the most spectacular scenery in the country. The landscape varies from the muddy ocean waters of Turnagain Arm to the icy blue glaciers visible in the mountains above.

The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is a non profit organization that cares for rescued wildlife. This is a must-do stop because it is a fantastic opportunity to photograph Alaska wildlife up close. Photograph moose, brown and black bear, wood bison, musk ox and many more rescued animals on this Alaska tour stop.

Continue travel south with your ATG guide and coach to Seward.

Hotel: Gateway Hotel. Seward’s newest hotel with spacious and quiet rooms with either 2 queen beds or one king.  Includes continental breakfast room.  Easy walking distance to shops, dining, and convenient for a walk along the bay under the late evening sun.

HIGHLIGHTS: Kenai Fjords Wildlife and Glacier Cruise

10:30 am check in for the 6 hour Kenai Fjords National Park tour with lunch.

This 6 hour Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise explores the world of whales, wildlife, and glaciers found in Kenai Fjords National Park. An experienced captain will fully narrate your journey and point out the spectacular sights, while providing information on the area’s wildlife, history, and geology. You will spend time in front of a towering tidewater glacier to watch for calving, where giant chunks of glacial ice break off and then crash into the water. Cruise around the islands and coves of the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge, home to thousands of nesting seabirds. Other possible wildlife sightings include bears, mountain goats, sea otters, seals, sea lions, porpoises, fish, and whales. A deli style lunch or a vegetarian option is included.

HIGHLIGHTS: Seward Custom Options; Wasilla, Alaska

Today is a flexible travel day north returning along the Seward Highway. With advance custom planning, optional adventures can be added in the city of Seward, along the way or at our next destination. Activity options vary in pace and price. Some popular ones in Seward are hiking to Exit Glacier, kayaking, fishing, or visiting the Alaska Sealife Center. Custom planning is done after the tour is booked.

Travel day north returns along the Seward Highway allowing a second opportunity for magical views and potential wildlife sightings. There is also time to explore some other special points of interest.

Continue travel north of Anchorage to the “Mat Su Valley.”

Lake Lucille Inn guests enjoy beautiful mountain and lake views along with comfortable accommodations. A breakfast buffet is provided each morning. Deluxe rooms feature a lake view.

HIGHLIGHTS: Sled Dog Kennel tour and ride; Denali, Alaska

Stop in Willow, the heart of mushing country, to tour Dream a Dream Kennels. Meet a veteran Iditarod musher, along with the huskies who make up this incredible team of athletes. You will also get a chance to meet the newest members of the team, cute puppies abound!

Then take a ride on a multi-seat All Terrain Vehicle, with the option of standing positions. These dog limos are the coolest and most realistic way to ride with a sled dog team in the summer months. This is great training for the dogs, and you’ll see how they love it! Another highlight of your Alaska land tour.

Continue the drive north to Denali National Park. It is an option to add evening excursions in your custom planning. Some of the more popular ones are river rafting, ATV tours, zipline and flightseeing tours.

Hotel: The Grande Denali Lodge offers vistas of the Nenana River and surrounding mountains that will take your breath away! Spacious guest room with 1 king or 2 queen beds.

HIGHLIGHTS: Denali National Park Shuttle

Denali National Park and Preserve, which is located in Interior Alaska, centers on Mt. Denali, the highest mountain in North America. The park encompasses more than 6 million acres, and provides visitors with the experience of a lifetime.

The Denali Park Road parallels the Alaska Range and travels through low valleys and high mountain passes. It is the only road in the park. Along its route, beautiful landscapes can be seen at every turn, and views of Mt Denali – if weather permits. Wildlife can often be seen, though sightings are not guaranteed – they are, after all, wild animals roaming an unfenced land.

The turnaround point for your park experience will be at Mile 43 of the park road.

Spend your second night at the Grande Denali Lodge.

HIGHLIGHTS: Alaska Railroad Goldstar – Denali to Talkeetna;   Anchorage, Alaska

11:20 am check in to board The Denali Star, the Alaska Railroad’s flagship train, GoldStar Service from Denali to Talkeetna. On this Alaska tour route, sparkling salmon streams and stands of birch and spruce come into view, while carpets of fireweed add dramatic purple to the landscape. Enjoy first-class service aboard double-deck dome cars. Luxury rail travel has never been better.

Reserved upper-level dome car seating, upper-level outdoor viewing deck, exclusive lower-level dining room, lunch and two adult beverages included. Order from the menu of Alaskan cuisine including choices that vary from seafood to reindeer sausage. Adult beverage menu includes award winning Alaskan brewery selections.

The train departs at 12:20 and your guide will drive with luggage and meet you in Talkeetna at 4:40 pm Depart Talkeetna by ATG small coach for the drive to your overnight destination in Anchorage.

5:00 pm Travel continues onboard your ATG coach for the final segment into Anchorage.

8:00 – 8:30 pm The guided portion of your tour ends with check in at the Anchorage Lakefront Hotel. Tomorrow is an unguided departure day. The hotel offers complimentary shuttle service to the airport.

Hotel: The Lakefront Anchorage, formerly Millennium Alaskan Hotel Anchorage, offers modern accommodations on the shores of Lake Spenard and Lake Hood. From the hotel’s lakeside deck, guests can watch over 800 planes land every day at Lake Hood, the largest and busiest floatplane base in the world.

Today is unguided. Your hotel provides complimentary airport shuttle. Check with the front desk to reserve your seats the night prior. We recommend you allow 2 hours between airport check-in and flight departure.

ALASKA FAMILY TRIP PACKAGE:  Each day lists the Drive Time: This is an estimate of your total road time that day. It does not count time to stop for meals, sights, activities and attractions. Every day is a full day. Some have longer travel but all are designed with time to get out of the vehicle and experience Alaska in a personal way.

ATG reserves the right to alter trip times to accommodate any potential changes or events that may occur at the time of travel. Road construction and other unknown events can alter travel time. Any changes will be made and relayed by your ATG guide at the time of travel to ensure that reserved activity times are met.

Meal Package – Meals are NOT included in the tour rate unless provided by lodging or activity as part of their services. Meals that are included are identified at the end of each day as B, L or D. B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner
